How we handle the text
Nothing here is Scripture. Commentary, modern lenses, symbolic reflection and personal perspectives are clearly labelled — so you can always tell which part is the Bible and which part is us.
Scripture first. Everything else is clearly labelled.
What the labels mean
- ScriptureThe King James Version, public domain, quoted exactly. Never edited, never paraphrased.
- Context / MeaningEditorial background and plain-language explanation written for this app.
- Modern interpretationPsychology, behaviour or science, shown only when it genuinely helps. Never proof of a theological claim.
- ReflectiveSymbolic and personal readings. Ways of thinking with the text, not what the author meant.
- PracticeSomething realistic you might do. An invitation you choose, not a command from God.
Our principles
Scripture is kept separate from commentary
Bible text appears in its own bordered block with its reference, quoted exactly from the King James Version. Every other word on the page is editorial and is labelled. Nothing we write is ever presented as Scripture, and nothing anyone writes can alter Scripture.
Historical and contextual claims should be grounded
Background about authorship, audience, setting and history is stated with the confidence it actually deserves — 'traditional', 'debated', 'unknown' — and what remains uncertain is written down rather than smoothed over.
Interpretive disagreement is acknowledged
Sincere Christians read some passages differently. Where that is true we say so and describe the readings, rather than presenting one as the definitive meaning of the text.
Reflective and symbolic readings are labelled
Symbolic and personal readings are marked Reflective. They are ways of thinking with the text. We never claim they are what the biblical author intended.
Modern science is never presented as proof of theology
Psychology and neuroscience appear only where they genuinely illuminate something about being human, marked as modern interpretation and carrying a note about the strength of the evidence. They never prove a theological claim, and they never diagnose anyone.
Community perspectives are perspectives
Reader contributions are stored, labelled and displayed separately from Scripture and from our editorial material. They carry no authority, no votes, no ranking, and nothing appears publicly without review.
The goal is understanding and practice, not replacing Bible reading
This is a companion. You do not need it in order to understand Scripture. If the app ever gets between you and the text, close it and keep reading the Bible.
What we will never claim
- Claim to reveal a hidden meaning of the Bible
- Present our reading as the definitive meaning
- Speak for God, or tell you God has commanded a personal decision
- Use science to prove a theological claim
- Present a symbolic reading as the author's intent
- Score, rank, or measure your spiritual life
Your notes stay yours
Journal entries, reflections, alignment notes and memory notes are stored on your own device and are never published, shared or shown to anyone else. Sharing a community perspective is a separate, deliberate choice you make one contribution at a time.
